CHORLTON WATER PARK

One of Greater Manchester’s most-loved nature reserves and open spaces, close to many traffic-free transport connections

Facilities: Carpark, picnic benches, playground, toilets

Extend your visit: Mersey Valley, Sale Water Park, Transpennine Trail

Maitland Avenue, Chorlton, M21 7WH

Smaller than neighbouring Sale Water Park but arguably much more scenic, Chorlton Water Park is the ideal location for a local day out. The park comprises a central lake surrounded by woodland and is popular with walkers, runners and cyclists alike.

Just south of the park is The River Mersey and the Mersey River Valley — a large area of urban countryside stretching from Manchester to Stockport. Covering many square miles of open green space, the Valley makes getting back to nature in the depths of the city accessible for all.

Chorlton Water Park is Manchester’s first designated local nature reserve and is an idyllic spot to recharge from the hustle and bustle of its neighbouring Chorlton, Didsbury and Sale.
