UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURE TOUR: MANCHESTER TO LAKE DISTRICT

No car? No problem. This unforgettable tour in the Lake District starts and ends in Manchester with your own personal guide for the day

I know everyone rolls their eyes when a creator says “I’ve been getting SO many questions about…”.  But really, we genuinely have. The question we get asked time and time again is: Can you show me public transport routes to… / Is there a way of exploring The Lakes without a car?

While it can be harder to explore the incredible scenery we have on our doorstep without a set of wheels, not having access to a car should never mean you miss out on unforgettable adventures.

So when Mountain Goat invited us to their new Infinity Adventure tour, they didn’t have to ask twice before we hopped in their bus and set off on adventure.

We’ve explored the Lakes many times before with a car, but it was so freeing having someone as your personal guide for the day. Plus, by leaving the wheels behind, we were able to fill our boots at the pub mid-trip. A win-win.

Tour itinerary

Join Mountain Goat and leave the city behind for the day as we head up to Honister and test your nerves on their Award-Winning Infinity Bridge, suspending you 1,000ft above the stunning Borrowdale Valley. From here you’ll head down the valley for lunch at the recently restored Yew Tree Inn for a pub lunch. The pub dates back to the 1620s and has been newly refurbished with love and care. You’ll be greeted with character and charm from the minute you walk in.

After a drive through the Lake District National Park, you'll then head to the village of Grasmere, where you can have a wander around the picturesque Lakeland village. Grasmere is home to the famous Grasmere Gingerbread and is where the famous poet William Wordsworth made his home.

Good-to-knows

·       Infinity Bridge: Suspended 1,000 feet above sea level, this heart-racing experience provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.

·       Yew Tree Inn: Recently refurbished with love and care, this pub is full of old-world charm. It’s a great pitstop mid-tour, and is also a great place to refuel at if you’re tackling Scafell from Borrowdale.

·       Grasmere Gingerbread: Grasmere Gingerbread® is used to keeping secrets secret. Their original unique hand-written recipe – invented in 1854 by Victorian cook Sarah Nelson – is locked inside a secure bank vault. And if you’re thinking that’s a little extra, we can assure you it’s not. This gingerbread is world-famous for a reason, and we’re still thinking about it to this day.
